What is Burnout

Burnout is a term that is used for physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. As the term suggests, it is when our energy levels have run out, and our bodies and mental health are no longer able to function at a healthy level. The term is most commonly associated with work, but can manifest in many areas of life for example; raising a family, being a full-time care taker, dealing with chronic pain or illness.

If you are working excessive hours, not taking enough time to sleep, eat or rest, if you feel under pressure or give more than is humanly possible to a particular task or role, at some point your mind and body will ‘stop’ and you will be dealing with burnout. Burnout is sometimes connected to a deeper internal belief of some kind, which in turn causes the individual to try and live up to impossible standards. For example, a belief that ‘without me things will fall apart, I am the only one who can do this task’ or ‘I have to do this in order to please others, to be accepted’.

How RECORE treats burnout

At RECORE we use a holistic and Person-Centred treatment method to help you recover from Burnout and live life in a more productive way. Our Programmes incorporate a combination of talking therapies, complimentary treatments and medical treatments, which help to relax and heal your body and mind from the effects of burnout. These treatments are tailored specifically to help identify where and how burnout has developed in your life and help you learn new skills that will enable you to make a full recovery and prevent a reoccurrence of burnout. Together, we will explore the impact burnout is having on your health and life and how your ‘belief’ system and life style relates to your health and wellbeing.

By exploring your ‘belief’ system and life style our treatments at RECORE will provide you with necessary skills required to change unhealthy or harmful behaviour that have developed. At RECORE rest, relaxation, good nutrition and fun will be a healing part of your treatment for burnout. We call this method of treatment a ‘prescription for life’. RECORE programmes work at teaching and providing you with new life changing skills that help to build resilience, enable you to take better care of yourself and incorporate a healthier life pattern.
